  • Instead of waiting for polish to dry at the end of the manicure, a specially made UV lamp cures each coat of polish. The topcoat is set under the lamp for 10 seconds, two layers of nail color are treated for two minutes each, and the top coat also gets two minutes under the lamp. While one hand goes in, the other hand gets painted. At the end of the manicure, your nails are 100% dry and ready to go. No more waiting around for nails to dry!I chose Tutti Frutti, a bright pink shade, for my Shellac manicure. Many women stay away from bold colors when they get their nails done because they show chips easier, but I decided to put CND's 14-day guarantee to the test. Those are my real nails!During the first three days of my manicure, I couldn't stop marvelling at how my nails glistened. I received several compliments on the color.Over the first weekend, I washed dishes and scrubbed my bathroom from top to bottom with my hands. I even used bleach in the tub! I expected a few chips to appear or the shine to fade as a normal manicure would, but six days later Shellac was still holding up.Day 8: still no compliants. You could rub your nails over this brick wall and not see a scratch. I did, and became highly impressed with Shellac's durability.After 10 days my nails had really grown.   • 10 minutes later, the wraps are removed and the polish just slides off. An orange stick comes enclosed in the pack of remover wraps and helps to flake off any excess polish. I love how sanitary the whole process is. And voila! Clean, healthy nails with no filing or scrubbing necessary. The new Shellac line from CND ( Creative Nail Design) promises two weeks of no-chip polish, a big claim that was five years in the making in the research labs. A "hybrid" of regular polish and gel, like a gel  it offers that rock-hard longevity, protects the nails and "cures" dry under a UV lamp. Removal takes only 10 minutes involving acetone-soaked finger wraps.
